Custom Transformers — Taiwan Manufacturer

A buyer-intent page for design, PCBA, and OEM teams sourcing custom transformers from a Taiwan manufacturer. It covers the transformer types febetek builds (power/switching, planar, gate-drive, current-sense, AC-DC, server power), the electrical specs to provide to start a design, the quote-to-sample-to-production flow, applications, and trust signals — then routes every custom request to the RFQ form.

febetek (lowercase) is a Taiwan-based custom magnetics manufacturer that builds custom transformers for design houses, PCBA factories, and OEM brand customers. Founded in 2016 as febe Inc. / 菲比科技有限公司, we cover the full transformer line — power and switching, planar, gate-drive, current-sense, AC-DC and DC-DC, and server power — under one OEM/ODM workflow. Precision Magnetics. Faster Charging.

A custom transformer is not a catalog part you pick off a shelf — it is designed to your turns ratio, isolation class, and footprint. This page explains what febetek builds, the specs to send us to start a design, how the quote-to-sample-to-production flow works, and where these parts are used. Every custom request routes to a single Request a Quote form.

Types of Custom Transformers We Build

febetek's transformer line is fully OEM/ODM and built to your specification. Below are the six transformer series we design and manufacture, each linking to its product page. Planar is one option within the line — not the whole line — so high-frequency, low-profile designs and conventional wire-wound designs are both covered.

  • Current Sense Transformers — isolated current measurement for power converters, metering, and protection circuits, where a transformer reproduces a scaled, galvanically isolated copy of the primary current.
  • Gate Drive Transformers — isolated gate drive for IGBT and MOSFET high-side switching, transferring both drive energy and the switching signal across an isolation barrier.
  • Transformers for DC-DC Converter — isolation and voltage step-up/step-down for isolated DC-DC topologies such as forward, push-pull, and LLC resonant converters.
  • Transformers for AC-DC Converter — galvanic isolation and step-down for offline switched-mode power supplies, supporting flyback, forward, LLC resonant, and half-bridge topologies.
  • Planar Transformers — low-profile, high-power-density transformers that use PCB or lead-frame copper windings instead of round magnet wire, typically used in high-frequency switching power above roughly 100 kHz (industry-typical range).
  • Server Power Transformer — isolation transformers for server and datacenter power supply units, where high efficiency, thermal margin, and a constrained height profile drive the design.

Spec Inputs We Design To ("Tell us your requirements")

A custom transformer design starts from your requirements, not a part number. The more of the checklist below you provide, the faster we can scope and quote. This is the standard set of inputs a custom-magnetics RFQ needs (a structure consistent with engineer-input checklists published by magnetics vendors such as Würth Elektronik):

  • Electrical operating point — input voltage range (Vin), output voltage(s) (Vout), output power or current per winding, and switching frequency.
  • Converter topology — flyback, forward, push-pull, half-/full-bridge, LLC resonant, phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB), or other; this drives the magnetic structure.
  • Turns ratio and number of windings — primary:secondary ratio, any auxiliary/bias windings, and tap requirements.
  • Isolation and safety requirement — working voltage, isolation class (functional / basic / reinforced), creepage and clearance targets, and the relevant safety standard. febetek manufactures custom transformers under a UL-recognized insulation system (UL E533808, scope: transformer insulation system).
  • Mechanical limits — maximum footprint, maximum height/profile, mounting style (through-hole, SMT, chassis), and any keep-out constraints.
  • Regulatory targets — applicable UL / IEC requirements (e.g., insulation coordination per IEC 60664 — an industry standard, not a febetek measurement) and any end-product agency approval you need the part to support.
  • Design priority order — tell us how to weigh efficiency vs. size vs. unit cost vs. sample speed, so the design is optimized for what matters to you.

febetek builds custom turns-ratio, custom isolation, and custom form-factor transformers — including PCB and lead-frame (planar) windings — so the constraints above become design inputs rather than blockers.

Our Custom Transformer Design Process

The process is a short, predictable path from inquiry to production, designed to reduce buyer uncertainty:

  1. Submit an RFQ — send the spec inputs above through the quote form. Partial specs are fine; we will follow up on what's missing.
  2. Spec review and feasibility — our engineers review the electrical, mechanical, and isolation requirements, confirm the topology fit, and identify the right transformer series and construction.
  3. Sample / prototype — we build a prototype to the agreed specification for your bench validation. Typical sample turnaround depends on design complexity (TBD — depends on the design).
  4. Production — after sample sign-off, we move to volume manufacturing. Production lead times depend on quantity and complexity.

We don't publish a one-size-fits-all lead-time figure because a gate-drive transformer and a multi-output server power transformer are not the same job. Send your spec and we'll give you a timeline with the quote.

Applications / Industries Served

febetek's transformers are used across the power-electronics applications that match our two business lines — Magnetics and Fast Chargers. Typical areas include:

  • Power conversion and switched-mode power supplies — isolation and step-down transformers for AC-DC adapters, DC-DC converter modules, and offline SMPS designs.
  • Automotive and charging — power magnetics for vehicle electronics and charging applications, an adjacency consistent with febetek's Fast Chargers line of car and motorcycle USB charging modules.
  • Industrial power — gate-drive and current-sense transformers for motor drives, inverters, and industrial converter platforms, plus server/datacenter power supplies.

These are the general application areas where each transformer type is used; they are not claims of specific design wins. (We do not publish customer names or case studies.)

Why febetek (Trust Signals)

  • ISO 9001 quality management — febetek operates a company-level ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • UL-recognized insulation system — UL E533808 is a product-level UL recognition with scope limited to our transformer insulation system. It is a product/component recognition, not a company-wide certification, and we state it that way deliberately.
  • Established 2016 — febe Inc. has built magnetic components since 2016. We cite our real founding year rather than imitating round-number heritage claims.
  • Made in Taiwan — designed and manufactured in Taiwan, with PCB and lead-frame (planar) winding capability for low-profile, high-frequency transformers, and full custom turns-ratio / isolation / form-factor builds.

We list only what we can stand behind. We do not publish efficiency percentages, headcount, capacity statistics, or a client list on this page.

Custom transformers don't have a fixed catalog — every design is quoted to your spec. Send your requirements and our engineers will scope it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for a custom transformer?
MOQ depends on the design — there is no single fixed number for a custom part. Because each transformer is built to your turns ratio, isolation class, and construction, the practical minimum varies with the part's complexity and the tooling involved. Send your specification through the RFQ form and we'll confirm the MOQ together with the quote.
What electrical specs do I need to provide to start a custom transformer design?
At minimum, provide your input voltage range (Vin), output voltage(s) and power per winding, switching frequency, and the converter topology (for example flyback, forward, LLC, or PSFB). Adding the required turns ratio, isolation/safety class, and mechanical limits (footprint and maximum height) lets us scope the design faster. This is the standard input set for any custom-magnetics RFQ; partial specs are fine and we'll follow up on the rest.
Can febetek design custom planar and high-frequency transformers, or only standard wire-wound types?
Yes — febetek builds both. Planar transformers use PCB or lead-frame copper windings for a low-profile, high-power-density part suited to high-frequency switching, and are one series within our full transformer line. We also build conventional wire-wound designs, so the choice is driven by your frequency, height, and power targets rather than by what we can make.
What is the typical lead time for a custom transformer sample?
Sample lead time depends on the complexity of the design, so we don't quote a single universal figure (TBD — depends on the design). A simple gate-drive or current-sense transformer and a multi-output server power transformer are very different builds. Submit your spec through the RFQ form and we'll give you a sample timeline with the quote.
Are febetek custom transformers UL or IEC compliant?
febetek manufactures custom transformers under a UL-recognized insulation system: UL E533808, with scope limited to the transformer insulation system. This is a product-level UL recognition, not a company-wide certification. We design to the UL and IEC insulation requirements you specify for your end product — tell us the applicable standard (for example, the isolation class and creepage/clearance targets) and we'll design to it.
Does febetek offer OEM / ODM custom magnetics for brand customers?
Yes. febetek serves design houses, PCBA factories, and OEM brand customers, building custom transformers and other magnetics to your specification under our own manufacturing. Custom turns-ratio, isolation, and form-factor designs are the core of what we do — there is no off-the-shelf catalog for custom parts, so every request goes through the RFQ form for a scoped quote.
Where is febetek located, and do you export?
febetek (febe Inc. / 菲比科技有限公司) is based in Taiwan and has built magnetic components since 2016. We serve both domestic and overseas customers, including the Japanese electronics manufacturing ecosystem. For shipping terms and export details to your region, contact us at [email protected] or through the RFQ form.
